Last summer, my wife and I decided to try out Golden Dragon Palace Restaurant located at 2/242 Hutt St, Adelaide SA 5000, Australia as we wanted to indulge ourselves with something good. Having heard mixed reviews about this place, we were a bit skeptical but chose to give it a go anyway.
The ambiance of the restaurant was quite pleasant and authentic - dim lighting, soft music playing in the background, and traditional Chinese decorations adorning the walls. It gave us an impression that our dining experience would be memorable. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met as far as food quality is concerned.
We ordered a variety of dishes such as sweet and sour pork, Kung Pao chicken, and fried rice. The presentation was mediocre, but the taste left much to be desired. The sweet and sour pork was too sweet, lacked the tanginess that usually comes with it, and the meat seemed overcooked. The Kung Pao chicken had an unpleasant aftertaste which we couldn't quite place, making it difficult for us to enjoy our meal.
Moreover, the service left a lot to be desired too. Our server was unfriendly, didn't check up on us frequently enough, and seemed disinterested in his job. This further added to the overall disappointing experience.
Compared to other restaurants in Adelaide, I must say that Golden Dragon Palace Restaurant falls short in terms of food quality and service. There are numerous other establishments offering better dining experiences with more authentic Chinese cuisine at comparable prices.
