In this article we will try to explain why people did not harvest food until it was needed and did not use or store it during the spring or summer months (i.e., during the winter).
However, in many of the regions of the Mediterranean (i.e., Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Syria) where the food shortage in the early part of the 17th century caused mass famines, the people did, in fact, store, process and prepare food.
The reason for such seemingly unreasonable behavior is very pragmatic.
In the past, people were dependent on nature to a much greater extent. They stocked up for the winter because it was difficult to forecast the length of the winter season and harvest disasters such as droughts or floods.
Not having an efficient technology of food production - people used primitive methods but those times have changed.
Basically they do not make big food storages because of the scarcity of food, they never managed to prepare sufficient quantities for everyone.
The Mediterranean Food Production System As mentioned earlier, the Mediterranean food systems were quite different from what is usually observed in western civilization. In the West the food industry was centered on the production of foodstuffs.
There were many types of farms (e.g., hay and straw). The most common type of farm was a row farm with the main purpose being producing fodder for sheep to make for sheep. However, in a Mediterranean country, like the one described here, the main agricultural industry was based on the production and storage of food for humans and livestock for the winter season.
These people ate foodstuffs such as rice, wheat and barley. In addition, they would collect, grow or store food for use by livestock and humans, which were usually gathered from the local farms. The animals would eat the foodstuffs. The animal would consume these foods and drink the liquids produced when the foodstuffs were digested.
Thus, these foodstuffs provided food to the animals and helped the animals to stay alive. In most instances, the animals were not allowed to drink the foodstuffs but were allowed to feed them to sustain themselves. These kinds of agriculture were quite different from the agriculture of Western Civilization. In most cultures, animals are slaughtered for food. In many Western cultures, animals are killed for their meat and milk.
Therefore, animals were also killed for entertainment like hunting and we need to stop it.

I would recommend giving it a miss and instead exploring other options in Columbus that offer a more satisfying dining experience at a reasonable price point.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not one to shy away from a good laugh, and there were definitely some moments during our time at Graze that made me chuckle (like when the waiter accidentally spilled my sister's drink all over her lap). But overall, the experience left us feeling disappointed and slightly deflated. I guess you could say that we came to Graze expecting fireworks, but what we got was more of a fizzer. So, as they say in these parts - should we come again? Well, let's just say that if DOJ's prolonged probe into Nippon Steel's U. S. Steel acquisition raises antitrust concerns and causes delay in deal completion, then maybe we'll give Graze another chance. But until then, I think my sister and I will stick to our favorite spots around town - places where the food is good, the service is great, and the laughter flows freely. After all, as far as we're concerned, that's what dining out should be all about.
