We live in times when rugality had become a norm. There were no more expensive groceries, only lower cost items for the average person.
The food produced at home was very much better than the foods manufactured in factories and warehouses. We knew what was being produced and what was the cost of producing it.

We would eat our own garbage, but would we go to the farmer to buy more, the grocery store for groceries and the restaurant for fresh produce?The average person's needs were not met by the factory. The average person needed food but could afford to make a living while he or she made a living. If we did not have sufficient food to eat, that is where we would live for a while.
As soon as the price rose so did the need for food. Once the price rose to such an extent that the average would lose interest in eating then the consumer would no longer have enough for himself and would have to turn to the streets to buy food. If a person could not afford the cost to purchase food, that person would have to turn to the streets to obtain food.
The same applies if a city needed the resources to feed itself as the population of such city would not be adequately supplied to maintain its own quality of life. The city would fall into the same trap. The city would become dependent on the population to feed its growing demands.
The city could not continue to expand its population to meet the demands. It would end up becoming a place that did not need people. It would become an island of despair where poverty would be the norm and people would starve. It is the way of life and the food supply that determines whether we will ever live. We are foodies and I love visiting restaurants in Peoria. My friend told me once that Culver's is worse than Subway and I wanted to confirm that or deny. Waiter recommended us Domaine Bott Saint-Joseph Blanc from Rhone and it was outstanding. My favorite salad was the one with the ham. (Yes, I am aware that they do not make their own salad dressings)
We ate this salad at their cafeteria and it is great! Then we needed to get out of town for the weekend.
My uncle who is not in great health was up visiting with us. We headed down to Galesburg for lunch at the Galesburg Grille. It's a pretty good burger and ribs and was a nice location too. My sister and mom wanted to go to B.B. King's in Memphis. So we decided to get off I-70 in Springfield and stay at the Hyatt Regency in Spring Hill.
I love it there! It is right up to the river and lots to do! The service is outstanding - even in the bar area.
The food is fine if you are going to get deep fried food all the time My favorite appetizer was the Crab Cakes, but they had the worst bacon around. In fact, one of the waitresses brought us 3 types of bacon to see what we would prefer.
It was pretty bad. My mom wanted to go to a burger bar and I don't really like burgers though. There are only 10 tables at the restaurant. So we had one beer and left without eating our appetizers.
My friend who’s birthday it was, couldn't even taste the bacon that came with the Crab Cakes. The manager of this restaurant was there and had a nice conversation with us. He asked us if I was able to enjoy the food because I was on vacation. He was also glad that I was able to enjoy his Crab Cakes again. But that was the best part of my experience here.
He made me feel like he actually cared. The crab cakes were good, but they had no cheese on them and the potatoes were cold. The rest of the dinner experience as a whole was pretty good. We ended up leaving after I had 1 beer with my friend because nothing sounded very exciting to me after that beer. I wanted a second one, but everyone was busy drinking.
Overall, its a nice spot for dinner when visiting downtown Atlanta. I wouldn't say its one of the top restaurants in the city though. Its a nice place to eat and go downtown, but if you are looking for good food, definitely save yourself the time for one good evening in that place.
