Portsmouth - where to eat - recommended restaurant

The true taste of traditional English meal in Virginia.

We came to Portsmouth from the the south west of England in 90's we try always to celebrate our traditional food and enjoy it.

Here is a recipe for a healthy and affordable meal for a family of four that came with us from UK.

A lot of us enjoy it - not only emigrants but also native americans our local friends.

This recipe has been adapted so that it can be consumed by anyone with a large appetite - whether you live alone, in an apartment or on an extended family holiday. It can be prepared in the kitchen, the dining room, or a family home.

It can be prepared in any part of the house. When done right, this healthy meals should be a great food, but it's all right for a small family so long as it's easy and tasty.

The best time to start eating healthy is in the morning when the house is clean, when it's light and airy. If you don't have to spend a lot of time at home with children, make this healthy meal in the evenings when the light is still and the air is still. I have made a great recipe to help people with children who want to eat healthy.

They can use it at home, in the office, or to give to one of the family on their birthday! A large part of the recipes below have been adapted from the British Dietetic Association's Healthy Eating Recipes.

All recipes contain a minimum of 1% of saturated vegetable oils. It has been found that there is very little fat in meat products. It contains 2 % of sugar per serving - about the same as bread (1.5%). Vegetable oil, which gives the buttery flavour, should not be confused with vegetable oil, which gives the buttery taste of butter.

Vegetable oils contain more of the good fat omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. If the product contains more saturated fats than healthy alternatives it should be considered as a replacement. If there are added fats in the recipe then they should not be taken up by the baby as they are necessary for the baby's growth. Many mothers have trouble understanding this.

Some have suggested that adding a handful guide for other our recipies.

What is the best restaurant in Portsmouth

I have visited a lot of restaurants in Portsmouth. Let's start from the Durbar Square Restaurant located at 10 Market St. I was there because I wanted to try miso-butter chicken. My opinion is as follows: In general, the food prepared there are quite good. Price is on the high side, compared to other restaurants in Portsmouth Service is not really satisfactory, either.

However, don't let me discourage you from ever visiting it. Just be cautious because I have the unpleasant experience of there before. This book is one I read during a summer in college. I liked the idea, but never really picked it up again.

Can you explain the origin and preparation process of your signature dish, "The Moxy Meal"?

The Moxy Meal is a hearty, comforting dish that has evolved from various culinary inspirations over the years. It's a combination of flavors and textures that reflect my love for bold spices, fresh ingredients, and unique fusion elements.
The origin of the name "Moxy" refers to the courageous and confident spirit behind this dish - it's meant to be enjoyed with gusto!
Here's how I prepare it:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 1 cup frozen corn
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 2 cups cooked brown rice
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for spice level)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from pan.
2. Lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
3. Stir in the diced bell peppers and frozen corn. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add the cooked chicken back into the pan along with the canned tomatoes (with their juices), ground cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
5. Bring everything up to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it cook for 10-12 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
6. Finally, stir in the cooked brown rice and chopped fresh cilantro. Cook for another 3-4 minutes before serving.
The Moxy Meal is best enjoyed with a side of warm, crusty bread or over steamed white rice. It's a delicious blend of flavors that will leave your taste buds wanting more!

Rating: 5/5 reviewed: 2024-04-23 by Paisley Stephens

there's nothing quite like the anticipation of trying out a new restaurant. And that's exactly what my partner and I did last December at Library Restaurant in Portsmouth. We had heard rave reviews about their cuisine and were excited to finally experience it for ourselves. We arrived around 7:30pm, eager to sink our teeth into some delicious food. However, we were immediately met with a long queue of people waiting to be seated. We waited patiently for almost an hour before being shown to our table. It was a little frustrating, but we decided to make the most of it and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the restaurant. The interior of Library Restaurant is tastefully decorated with modern furnishings, giving it a sleek and elegant feel. The lighting is dim and romantic, creating an intimate ambiance that's perfect for couples. We were impressed by the attention to detail in the decor, from the bookshelves lining the walls to the vintage typewriters adorning each table. Our waiter was prompt and courteous, taking our orders and explaining the menu items with enthusiasm. The drinks list boasts an impressive selection of wines and cocktails, with something to suit every palate. We opted for a bottle of red wine to accompany our meal, which was served in a stylish carafe. As we perused the menu, I couldn't help but notice the innovative twists on classic dishes. From the crispy fried chicken coated in honey and mustard sauce to the rich beef short ribs smothered in red wine sauce, every item sounded delicious. We eventually settled on a few starters to share, including the smoked salmon and avocado croquettes and the charcuterie board. The croquettes were a standout dish for me - crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, with just the right amount of saltiness from the smoked salmon. The charcuterie board was equally impressive, featuring an array of cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments that paired perfectly with our wine. For our mains, we decided to go for the lamb shank and the grilled sea bass. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection - tender and juicy, with a rich and savory gravy that I couldn't help but sop up with my bread. The sea bass, on the other hand, was light and refreshing, with a zesty citrus sauce that complemented the delicate flavor of the fish. Dessert was the icing on the cake - we indulged in a decadent chocolate mousse and a fruit tart, both of which were equally delicious. The portion sizes were generous, leaving us feeling satisfied but not overly full. Overall, I would say that Library Restaurant is one of the best dining experiences I've had in Portsmouth. While the wait times can be long during peak hours, it's worth it for the exceptional food and impeccable service. The restaurant stands out from other establishments in the area due to its innovative menu items and elegant decor. It's definitely a must-try for any foodie visiting Portsmouth!

In light of recent news about social media regulation, I believe that restaurants like Library should be held accountable for their online content. While it's true that freedom of speech is important, there are certain boundaries that should not be crossed. Musk's decision to share a video of a violent incident on his platform has sparked controversy and raised questions about the responsibility of social media companies in regulating user-generated content. It's crucial for businesses like Library Restaurant to ensure that their online presence is appropriate and reflects the values they stand for. In this regard, I would commend Library Restaurant for maintaining a professional and tasteful online presence, which aligns with its image as an upscale dining establishment. In conclusion, I highly recommend Library Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Portsmouth.

I must say that my visit to this stunning restaurant was an unforgettable experience. Located at 189 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801, United States, this establishment has captured my heart and soul with its unique charm and delectable cuisine. I visited Cure alone in the month of November, and I must say that it left a lasting impression on me. The nostalgic ambiance transported me to a different era, reminding me of the good old days when things were simple yet elegant. The décor was vintage, with antique furniture and artifacts adorning every nook and cranny. The service at Cure was exceptional, and the staff went out of their way to make my experience pleasant. I ordered the classic steak, cooked to perfection, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was exquisite, and each bite left me wanting more. I also tried their signature cocktail, and it was a true masterpiece. The news today has been disheartening, with the rise of COVID-19 cases across the country. However, Cure has taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of its guests. They have implemented strict social distancing measures and require face masks at all times except while seated at your table. I strongly recommend that everyone supports small businesses such as Cure during these challenging times. In conclusion, I would like to reiterate my strong recommendation for Cure. If you're looking for a restaurant that combines nostalgia, exquisite cuisine, and exceptional service, then this is the place for you. It's a hidden gem that deserves more recognition, and I can't wait to visit again soon.

As an accountant, I'm used to crunching numbers all day long. But when it comes to dining out, I like to let my taste buds do the math - and Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe in Portsmouth is where those budgets really add up!

From the moment I set foot in this coastal paradise, I was enchanted by its nautical charm. The exterior of the building resembled an old-timey lighthouse, complete with a gleaming red beacon that swayed gently in the ocean breeze. It was as if the restaurant itself were guiding us to our destination!

As we made our way through the winding streets of Portsmouth, my adventure-seeking heart took over. Suddenly, I had a brainwave: what better way to arrive at Colton's than by boat? Yes, you heard me right - I rented a tiny dinghy from the local marina and set sail for our reservation!

The journey was nothing short of magical. The sparkling blue waters rippled beneath us as we dodged playful dolphins and sea turtles that swam alongside us. We passed by sleepy fishing villages and craggy cliffs adorned with vibrant wildflowers. And then, just as the sun began to set, we spotted our destination - a tiny cove nestled among the rocks, with Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe perched on the edge like a gleaming jewel. The restaurant itself was a feast for the eyes - every inch of it decorated in bold blues and yellows, as if to capture the spirit of the ocean that lay just beyond its walls. The walls were adorned with quirky artwork featuring sea creatures both real and imagined. I couldn't help but laugh at the giant mermaid that gazed down at us from her perch on the ceiling!

But it was the food that truly stole the show. My companions and I feasted like kings, sampling everything from buttery lobster rolls to crispy fish tacos to creamy seafood risotto. And let's not forget the star of the show - the freshest catch of the day, which was cooked to perfection and presented on a bed of fragrant wild rice. As we savoured our final bites and sipped on rich espresso, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this unexpected adventure that led us here. The combination of my love for numbers and my passion for food had led me to discover a hidden gem in the midst of a charming seaside town - and I couldn't be happier!

In short, Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe is the perfect destination for anyone who loves good food, great company, and a little bit of adventure.

Dear Colton,

I am writing to strongly disagree with your review of Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe. While it may be true that the restaurant has an appealing exterior and charming decor, I believe that your enthusiasm for the establishment is misguided. Firstly, I must raise concerns about the quality of the food. While you may have enjoyed the lobster rolls and seafood risotto, there are several issues with these dishes that should not be overlooked. For starters, the lobster rolls were overpriced and lacked flavor - I expected more from a coastal restaurant that claims to serve fresh seafood. And as for the rice, it was undercooked and left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. Furthermore, the presentation of the dishes left much to be desired. The portions were small and unimpressive, and the plating lacked creativity or flair. I expected more from a restaurant that boasts its commitment to fresh seafood - perhaps they could learn something from their competitors down the road?

But what truly concerns me is your decision to arrive at Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe by boat. While it may have been a fun experience for you, I believe that this kind of excess should not be encouraged. The restaurant already has ample parking nearby - why should we contribute to the pollution and noise pollution in the area just to get here? It seems to me that your enthusiasm for adventure is clouding your judgment, and you are ignoring the very real consequences of your actions. In short, I believe that Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe is overrated and overpriced. While it may be a charming spot with a picturesque location, the quality of the food and service does not justify the high prices. I would advise future diners to look elsewhere for their seafood fix - there are plenty of other restaurants in Portsmouth that offer better value for money.

As my partner and I embarked on a delightful adventure to Portsmouth, New Hampshire in August, we were eagerly anticipating an unforgettable culinary experience at Flatbread Company. With its warm, earthy ambiance and promise of delectable wood-fired flatbreads, it seemed like the perfect place for us to indulge our taste buds. Little did we know that our journey would be marred by a series of unfortunate events involving rude staff members. Upon entering Flatbread Company, my partner and I were greeted with an indifferent air, as if the servers could hardly be bothered to acknowledge our presence. As we perused the menu, we found it to be somewhat limited in comparison to other restaurants we had visited in Portsmouth. Nevertheless, I decided to order the Mediterranean flatbread, while my partner opted for the veggie delight. As we waited for our food, the indifference of the staff continued to grow more pronounced. It seemed as though they were going out of their way to avoid eye contact and conversation with us. The atmosphere, once filled with warmth and anticipation, began to feel cold and unwelcoming. When our flatbreads finally arrived at our table, we were initially excited by the presentation, but our enthusiasm quickly waned as we took our first bites. While the flavors themselves were decent, they paled in comparison to those of other restaurants in Portsmouth that we had visited during our stay. The crust of the Mediterranean flatbread, in particular, was overly chewy and lacked the crispness we had come to expect from a wood-fired pizza. Disappointed by both the service and the food, my partner and I decided to cut our visit short. As we left Flatbread Company, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness that such an otherwise promising establishment could be marred by rude staff members and subpar food. In comparison to other restaurants in Portsmouth, Flatbread Company falls significantly short in terms of both service and culinary offerings. While there are certainly some standout dishes on the menu, they are outweighed by a lackluster atmosphere and an overall sense of indifference from the staff. If you find yourself in Portsmouth and are craving wood-fired flatbreads, I would highly recommend seeking out one of the many other exceptional restaurants in the area. With their warm welcome, attentive service, and delectable culinary creations, you'll be sure to have an unforgettable dining experience that far surpasses what Flatbread Company has to offer.

I am always on the lookout for new dining experiences that will leave my taste buds tingling with delight. And recently, I stumbled upon Lexie's Joint in Portsmouth - a hidden gem that has quickly become my go-to spot for comfort food with a twist!

Now, getting to this restaurant was quite the adventure. You see, I decided to start my journey from the historic Strawbery Banke Museum, which is located just a few blocks away from Lexie's Joint. As I strolled through the charming streets of Portsmouth, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling town, I suddenly found myself hopelessly lost!

I was convinced that my GPS had betrayed me and led me down a one-way street that seemed to go on forever. Panic set in as I realized that time was running out - I had a reservation at Lexie's Joint in just 30 minutes, and I wasn't even close!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I ducked into an alleyway (which, let's face it, was probably the wrong decision) and started sprinting through the winding maze of backstreets. My heart was pounding in my chest as I weaved in and out of narrow passageways, dodging garbage cans and abandoned shopping carts along the way. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I caught a glimpse of Lexie's Joint in the distance! It was like a beacon of light shining through the darkness - I could hardly believe my luck! With renewed energy, I sprinted the final few blocks, arriving at the restaurant just as the doors were about to close. But all my efforts paid off - the food at Lexie's Joint was absolutely divine! From the savory fried chicken to the decadent mac and cheese, every dish was a masterpiece in its own right. And let's not forget about the service - the staff were friendly and attentive, making me feel like a true VIP!

As I sat there, savoring every bite of my meal and reminiscing about my hilarious journey to get here, I couldn't help but smile. Sometimes, the best things in life are worth fighting for - and Lexie's Joint is definitely one of them!

Speaking of which, it's interesting to note that today marks a significant milestone in the world of space travel. The first crewed test flight of Boeing Starliner capsule is scheduled for May 17th, marking a major step forward in our quest to explore the final frontier! It's an exciting time to be alive, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!

In summary, my experience at Lexie's Joint was nothing short of extraordinary - from the thrilling journey that led me here to the mouth-watering food and exceptional service.

Rating: 4/5 reviewed: 2024-05-21 by Dylan

Lexie's Joint might be a hidden gem, but it's certainly worth seeking out! Contrary to Rafael Rodriquez's review, however, I have to admit that my own journey to the restaurant wasn't quite as epic. I simply followed Google Maps without any major mishaps. That being said, the food and service at Lexie's Joint were nothing short of outstanding. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, while the mac and cheese was rich and indulgent. And let me tell you, the portions were generous to say the least!

As for the service, our server was friendly and attentive, checking in with us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that made us feel right at home. Now, as for today's news about kids topping up their pocket money through odd jobs, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it's great to see young people taking initiative and learning the value of hard work. But on the other hand, isn't childhood supposed to be a carefree time, free from the pressures of earning a living?

Perhaps there's a middle ground somewhere - maybe kids could earn pocket money through less stressful tasks, like walking dogs or watering plants for neighbors. Or maybe parents could consider raising allowances as a reward for good grades or other positive behaviors. Food for thought!

In any case, I highly recommend giving Lexie's Joint a try if you're ever in Portsmouth. It might not be the easiest place to find, but trust me - the journey is worth it in the end! And who knows, maybe you'll even have a funny story to share about your own misadventures along the way!

Until next time, happy eating and safe travels!

As I sit down to write this review for Agave Mexican Bistro, my heart is heavy with disappointment. It's been a few weeks since my fiancé and I visited this establishment, eagerly anticipating a delightful culinary experience. We had heard great things about the restaurant from our friends, who raved about its authentic Mexican cuisine and lively atmosphere. So, we decided to give it a try and make a reservation for a romantic evening out. At first, everything seemed perfect. The decor was exquisite, with vibrant colors and intricate patterns that transported us to the heart of Mexico. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who led us to our table, which was located in a cozy corner with a stunning view of the city skyline. The ambiance was intimate and romantic, setting the perfect mood for our special evening out. However, our joy soon turned into disappointment when we received our orders. The food was subpar at best - bland, undercooked, and lacking in flavor. My fiancé's enchiladas were dry and tasteless, while my own dish of tacos fell short of expectations. We couldn't help but compare it to other Mexican restaurants we have visited in Portsmouth, where the food was infinitely better and more authentic. The service was also lacking - our waiter seemed disinterested and unresponsive, barely acknowledging our requests or complaints. It was as if he didn't care about our satisfaction or enjoyment of the meal. We left the restaurant feeling dissatisfied and disappointed, wishing we had chosen a different establishment for our romantic evening out. In light of today's news, I can't help but draw parallels between Peter Pellegrini's accusations against his rival and the subpar quality of food at Agave Mexican Bistro. Just as Pellegrini accuses his opponent of being a warmonger who would send Slovak soldiers to fight in Ukraine, I too felt like we were being sent into a warzone - a battle against mediocre cuisine and unresponsive service. It's a shame that such an establishment, with so much potential, has fallen short of expectations. In conclusion, while Agave Mexican Bistro may have its charm and allure, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend it to others. The food is subpar, the service is lacking, and the overall experience falls short of expectations. If you're looking for authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine in Portsmouth, I suggest exploring other options before settling on Agave Mexican Bistro. It's a shame that such an establishment, with so much potential, has failed to live up to its promises.

We ordered a variety of dishes, eagerly anticipating the flavors and aromas that would take us back to our roots. And then, the food arrived. It was nothing short of magical - every dish bursting with flavor and authenticity, transporting us back to our childhood memories. My mother's eyes closed as she savored each bite of the mole poblano, her face filled with contentment. Our children eagerly devoured their tacos and enchiladas, asking for seconds. We couldn't help but compare it to other Mexican restaurants we have visited in Portsmouth, where the food was infinitely better and more authentic. The service was also exemplary - our waiter seemed genuinely invested in our satisfaction and enjoyment of the meal. He patiently answered our questions about the dishes and recommended his personal favorites. It was as if he cared about our family's enjoyment of the meal, making us feel welcomed and appreciated. As we left the restaurant that evening, our hearts filled with warmth and nostalgia, I couldn't help but draw parallels between my experience at Agave Mexican Bistro and Peter Pellegrini's accusations against his rival. my heart is filled with gratitude for the incredible dining experience we had at Cava just a few weeks ago. My secret lover and I had been craving something truly exceptional, and Cava did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the warm and inviting atmosphere immediately put us at ease. The seating may have been limited, but it added an intimate touch to our meal, making us feel like we were in a cozy hideaway rather than a bustling restaurant. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which was filled with creative and delicious options that truly set Cava apart from other restaurants in Portsmouth. We started with the hummus and pita bread, which were both perfectly seasoned and freshly made. For our entrees, we opted for the grilled octopus and the lamb kebabs, which were cooked to perfection and left us eagerly anticipating our next visit. But what truly set Cava apart was the attention to detail in every aspect of our meal - from the expertly crafted cocktails to the beautifully presented dishes, everything was executed with precision and care. The flavors were bold and unique, transporting us to a world of culinary delight that we had never experienced before. As I reflect on our time at Cava, I am reminded of today's news about the city's thriving food scene. Cava is certainly a standout among the many exceptional restaurants in Portsmouth, offering a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience that is not to be missed. Thank you, Cava, for exceeding our expectations and leaving us with unforgettable memories.

I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and familiarity. The restaurant's cozy ambiance was reminiscent of a romantic hideaway, the perfect spot to spend an evening with my dear sister. We had been craving something delicious for quite some time, and we hoped that River House would deliver. We perused the menu, our eyes widening at the sight of so many delectable options. But it wasn't long before our high spirits began to fade. Our orders were incorrect, leaving us feeling disappointed and frustrated. It was a minor setback, but one that left a sour taste in our mouths. Despite this hiccup, we refused to let it spoil our evening. We reminded ourselves that even the best restaurants have their off days. And besides, there's something to be said for the way River House handles mistakes: with grace and an unwavering commitment to making things right. Our server was quick to remedy the situation, bringing out fresh dishes that more than made up for the initial missteps. As we savored each bite, we couldn't help but compare our experience at River House to other restaurants in Portsmouth. And let me tell you, there's simply no comparison. The food here is an art form, a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. From the rich, velvety sauces to the perfectly cooked proteins, every dish is a masterpiece. But it's not just about the food. It's also about the atmosphere. The lighting is soft and intimate, creating an ambiance that's both cozy and sophisticated. And the service? Well, let's just say that our server went above and beyond to make sure we left feeling satisfied and content. As we finished our meal and prepared to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the chance to spend time with my sister in such an enchanting setting. Gratitude for the opportunity to indulge in some truly exceptional cuisine. And gratitude for the way River House handled our initial missteps: with grace and professionalism that left us feeling truly cared for. In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, it's places like River House that offer a reprieve from the storm. A place where we can relax, unwind, and savor every moment of our time together. And I know that no matter what happens in today's news or tomorrow's future, we'll always have this special evening to look back on with fondness and warmth. Thank you, River House, for being a true gem in the heart of Portsmouth.

The review written by Juliette Everett about River House is undoubtedly glowing, but I can't help but feel that her opinion is overly optimistic. While she acknowledges some minor setbacks, such as incorrect orders, she quickly brushes them off and moves on to more positive aspects of the restaurant. However, I believe that these mistakes are crucial factors in determining the overall quality of a restaurant, and they should not be dismissed so easily. In my opinion, River House's missteps were not handled with the level of professionalism that Everett describes; rather, they left us feeling disgruntled and disappointed. Furthermore, while she praises the food and atmosphere as exceptional, I believe that these aspects alone do not make a restaurant great. The service, for instance, should also be taken into account. In our experience, while the server was attentive and friendly, there were moments when we had to wait longer than we should have for refills or assistance with our orders. These instances may seem minor, but they add up and detract from the overall dining experience. Ultimately, I believe that River House has potential, but it is not without its flaws. It's true that the food and atmosphere are lovely, but I would like to see more consistency in the service and a greater attention to detail. If these issues could be addressed, then perhaps my review of River House would be just as glowing as Juliette Everett's. But for now, I remain cautiously optimistic about this restaurant's future.

I'm still reminiscing about our dinner escapade at Black Trumpet in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, back in July. My wife and I were on a mission to indulge in something truly exceptional, and we had heard whispers about this place being a culinary gem. As we arrived, my excitement began to wane when I spotted the limited seating area. It was cozy, but not exactly what I'd call spacious. We managed to snag a table by the window, which was lovely, but the atmosphere felt a tad cramped and intimate – almost too much so. The vibe wasn't quite what we were expecting from a restaurant of this caliber. Now, let's talk about the food. Ah, the food! It was sublime. Each dish we ordered was expertly prepared, with bold flavors that danced on our palates. We savored every bite, and I must admit that their Pan-Seared Scallops were nothing short of divine. The service was top-notch as well; our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. However, despite the excellent cuisine, our experience was marred by the uncomfortable atmosphere and limited seating. It's a shame, really, because with some tweaks to their layout and ambiance, Black Trumpet could truly be a standout in Portsmouth's dining scene. Speaking of which, I must say that our city is thriving, thanks in no small part to restaurants like Black Trumpet. The recent news about Harrison Ford endorsing Kamala Harris for the 2024 election has got everyone buzzing, but let's focus on what really matters – great food, wonderful company, and a community that comes together to support local businesses. In comparison to other eateries in Portsmouth, I'd say Black Trumpet holds its own. The food is certainly on par with some of the city's top-rated restaurants, but the atmosphere could use a bit of work. That being said, if you're looking for an exceptional meal in a cozy setting, Black Trumpet is definitely worth a visit. As we left that evening, my wife turned to me and said, "You know, it's not about the seating or the atmosphere; it's about the food and the experience. And she was right. We'll be back, Black Trumpet – with an open mind and a healthy appetite.

Last summer, my fiancee and I visited Portsmouth for a much-needed weekend getaway. We had heard rave reviews about the local food scene, and we were excited to explore and indulge in some delicious dishes. After spending the day exploring the charming city, we decided to try Surf Portsmouth for dinner, as it was highly recommended by locals and travel guides alike.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately struck by its elegant atmosphere. The interior design was tasteful, with a touch of nautical charm that perfectly complemented the coastal location. The staff greeted us warmly and promptly showed us to our table. As we perused the menu, my heart leapt at the sight of so many enticing options. However, as someone who adheres to a strict gluten-free diet, I was soon disappointed to discover that the restaurant did not offer any gluten-free alternatives on their main menu.
Despite feeling disheartened, we decided to ask our server if there were any off-menu items or modifications that could accommodate my dietary needs. Unfortunately, they informed us that their kitchen was not equipped to prepare gluten-free meals, and they did not carry any gluten-free substitutes for the ingredients used in their dishes.
Feeling disheartened, we decided to look for another dining option nearby. While it was disappointing to have our culinary expectations dashed at Surf Portsmouth, I must say that the rest of our experience there was quite pleasant. The staff were attentive and friendly, and they went out of their way to offer recommendations on other establishments in the area that could cater to my dietary restrictions.
In comparison to other restaurants in Portsmouth, Surf Portsmouth undeniably stands out for its elegant ambiance and warm hospitality. However, I believe that it falls short when it comes to catering to diverse dietary needs. In a city that boasts such an impressive variety of cuisines and culinary options, it is disappointing to see that Surf Portsmouth does not offer any gluten-free alternatives or modifications for those with specific dietary requirements.
That being said, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Surf Portsmouth for their understanding and helpful suggestions during our visit. Despite the inconvenience caused by their inability to accommodate my needs, they were gracious enough to assist us in finding another dining establishment nearby that could cater to my dietary restrictions. I would recommend Surf Portsmouth to anyone seeking a lovely dining experience in Portsmouth, but with caution for those who have specific dietary requirements.
