Good Restaurant vs Fast Food in Bakersfield

A lot of people livening in Bakersfield claims that McDonalds and Burger King to buy the best, the most affordable and the freshest food. If that's all that you are willing to pay, why should we bother ?

For us, that's not good enough.

We are hungry and we do not want to be ignored. We are not the only ones.

Food is not just for animals. We do not need to buy meat every day, or drink beer every time. We can also enjoy good food that we cannot get anywhere else because of the good environment in the community.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the ingredients and preparation methods for our signature dish, the Chicken Teriyaki with Mixed Vegetables?

Our signature Chicken Teriyaki with Mixed Vegetables is a delicious and healthy meal that combines tender chicken pieces marinated in a savory teriyaki sauce, stir-fried with an assortment of colorful vegetables. Here's the list of ingredients and preparation methods for this dish:

Ingredients:

1. Chicken breasts - cut into bite-sized pieces
2. Teriyaki sauce - store-bought or homemade (recipe below)
3. Mixed vegetables - carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and sugar snap peas
4. Garlic - minced
5. Ginger - grated
6. Sesame oil
7. Salt
8. Pepper
9. Cornstarch
10. Water
11. Green onions - chopped (for garnish)

Preparation Methods:

1. Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with teriyaki sauce and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
2. Prepare vegetables: Wash and cut all the mixed vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
3. Cook chicken: Heat some sesame oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, reserving the sauce for later use, and cook until browned and cooked through. Set aside on a plate.
4. Stir-fry vegetables: Using the same pan, add more sesame oil if needed, then stir-fry the vegetables with garlic and ginger until they are tender but still crisp. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Make sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry. Add the reserved marinade into the pan containing the vegetables, bring it to a boil, then stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce.
6. Combine chicken and vegetables: Add the cooked chicken back into the pan and toss everything together until well coated with the teriyaki sauce.
7. Serve hot with steamed rice, garnished with chopped green onions. Enjoy!

What are the top three ingredients in our house-made salsa, and where do we source those ingredients locally?

The top three ingredients in our house-made salsa are tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro. We source all of these ingredients locally from various farmers' markets and local produce suppliers around the area. For tomatoes, we prefer to buy them from a small family farm called Tomato Haven. They grow a variety of heirloom tomatoes that are perfect for salsa-making. For jalapeños, we go to the Downtown Farmers' Market where we find a vendor who grows spicy peppers year-round. Lastly, for cilantro, we get it from a hydroponic farm called Green Circle Farms. Their cilantro is always fresh and full of flavor.

What is the difference between a ceviche and a tiradito dish, and which one of these is more popular among our customers?

Ceviche and Tiradito are both popular Latin American dishes, but they have some differences.
Ceviche is a traditional Peruvian dish made from fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices such as lime or lemon, with added ingredients like chili peppers, onions, and coriander. The acid from the citrus juice "cooks" the fish, making it firm and opaque. It is often served cold as a starter or appetizer.
Tiradito, on the other hand, originates from Peru's neighboring country, Ecuador. Like ceviche, tiradito uses fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices, but it is typically sliced into thin pieces and served without the added ingredients like onions or chili peppers. Tiradito can also be served cold as an appetizer or starter.
Based on our customer data, we have observed that ceviche seems to be more popular among our customers than tiradito. Ceviche is a well-known and widely recognized dish in the United States, while tiradito may not be as familiar to some diners. However, both dishes offer unique flavors and textures that can delight the palate.

Can you please describe the ingredients and preparation process for the signature dish, "Day of the Dead" enchiladas?

Certainly! The Day of the Dead Enchiladas is a festive Mexican dish that combines traditional flavors with vibrant colors to celebrate the holiday. Here are the ingredients and preparation process:
Ingredients:
- 12 corn tortillas
- 2 cups shredded chicken or cooked shrimp (optional)
- 3 cups red enchilada sauce
- 2 cups shredded cheese, preferably queso fresco or Monterey Jack
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2. In a large skillet, warm up the enchilada sauce over medium heat until it's hot but not boiling. Add salt to taste.
3. Place one corn tortilla in the sauce and let it soak for about 5 seconds on each side. Remove the tortilla from the sauce and place it on a plate or tray. Repeat this process with all the tortillas.
4. Fill each tortilla with shredded chicken, cooked shrimp, or just cheese if you prefer a vegetarian option. Roll up the tortillas tightly and place them seam side down in a baking dish.
5. Pour the enchilada sauce over the rolled tortillas, making sure they are completely covered. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the enchiladas.
6. Bake the enchiladas in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Garnish with chopped cilantro and onion before serving.
Serve the Day of the Dead Enchiladas with a side of Mexican rice, refried beans, and guacamole for a complete meal that will surely be a hit at your holiday gathering!

Rating: 2/5 reviewed: 2023-07-06 by Kyle

As a couple, we stayed at The Padre Hotel located in Bakerfield, CA long ago. Though known for its history and architecture, our room was underwhelming considering the price. Room service was overpriced. The old-fashioned room had a worn-down feel and an unclean bathroom.
The bedding was comfortable but the atmosphere disappointing. We booked a couple's massage at the in-house spa, which wasn't relaxing due to poor service. The location near downtown Bakerfield didn't have many nearby attractions or restaurants within walking distance; we had to take taxis out.
Overall, our experience was far from satisfactory for the cost. While it has beautiful elements and a good location, overpriced items, subpar service, and mediocre rooms make me hesitant to recommend staying there again.

I am utterly perplexed by Kyle's review of The Padre Hotel. His description of the room as "underwhelming" and "worn-down" is nothing short of an understatement. For someone to shell out money for a stay at this establishment and be left with such mediocre accommodations is beyond my comprehension. Moreover, Kyle's criticism of the overpriced room service seems justified, as this is a common issue in many hotels these days. However, I fail to understand how a couple's massage could possibly be less than relaxing. Perhaps Kyle had an encounter with a particularly unskilled masseuse or was dealing with some personal issues that affected his overall experience. But perhaps the most surprising aspect of Kyle's review is his lack of enthusiasm for the hotel's location near downtown Bakerfield. Frankly, I would consider this a major selling point. After all, who wants to be stuck in a hotel far away from the action, with nothing but fast-food chains and soulless corporate buildings to keep them company?

In my opinion, The Padre Hotel is a true gem that deserves more recognition than it currently receives. Its rich history and stunning architecture are unparalleled in the area, and I have personally experienced the luxurious amenities and top-notch service that this hotel has to offer. While it's true that some aspects of the establishment may be subjective, such as personal preferences for room decor or spa treatments, there is no denying that The Padre Hotel provides a level of comfort and sophistication that sets it apart from its competitors. In conclusion, I must commend Kyle on his review, which has been nothing short of entertaining. However, I would like to urge him to revisit The Padre Hotel with an open mind and a more discerning palate. Only then will he be able to truly appreciate the many wonders that this establishment has to offer. Until then, I will continue to sing its praises and encourage others to experience the magic for themselves.

While Aliyah's review of The Padre Hotel is undoubtedly persuasive, I must admit that my personal experience at this establishment was quite different from hers. Granted, the hotel does have a rich history and stunning architecture, but unfortunately, these factors did not translate into an enjoyable stay for me. Firstly, I must address Aliyah's criticism of Kyle's review. While it's true that some aspects of any hotel experience are subjective, such as personal preferences for room decor or spa treatments, there is no denying that The Padre Hotel falls short in several key areas. As someone who values comfort and cleanliness above all else, I found the state of my room to be nothing short of disastrous. The carpets were stained and frayed, the bedding was threadbare, and there was a distinct musty odor that permeated the entire space. In short, I would not describe this accommodation as luxurious or sophisticated in any way. Moreover, Aliyah's praise for the hotel's location near downtown Bakerfield is misplaced. While it's true that there are some attractions and restaurants in the area, the reality is that downtown Bakerfield is far from a bustling metropolis. In fact, I would describe it more as a rundown neighborhood with an overwhelming number of fast-food chains and soulless corporate buildings. As someone who values culture and character in their travels, this was a major disappointment for me. Finally, while Aliyah's review of the hotel's spa treatments is positive, I must admit that my experience was less than relaxing. The masseuse assigned to me seemed more interested in chatting about her personal life than actually providing a therapeutic massage. Furthermore, the prices for these services are exorbitant, considering the subpar quality of service provided. In conclusion, while I must commend Aliyah on her enthusiasm for The Padre Hotel, I must also urge caution for other potential guests. Based on my personal experience, I would describe this hotel as underwhelming and overpriced, with a location that leaves much to be desired. Until significant improvements are made in these areas, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a truly luxurious and sophisticated stay.

Last weekend, I visited 24th Street Cafe located at 1415 24th St, Bakerfield, CA 93301, United States with my best friend, Tanya, because we both heard amazing things about this place and wanted to eat something good. We were so excited and had our expectations up high as we heard many positive reviews about the quality of their food and customer service. However, to our disappointment, we ended up waiting for almost 2 hours just to get a table! This was quite unexpected as we assumed being a popular place, they would have multiple tables ready for customers who want to dine in.
Despite the long wait times, I must say that the ambiance of the cafe itself was quite pleasant and cozy which made it bearable to some extent. Once we finally got seated, our server greeted us warmly and promptly took our orders. The menu had a good variety of options which catered to everyone's taste buds - from breakfast items to sandwiches and salads.
We ordered their famous omelet with fresh vegetables and the avocado toast served with poached eggs. It was indeed delicious, but it did not quite meet the high expectations we had built up over the long wait. While the flavors were good and fresh, there wasn't anything exceptional about these dishes that would make us come back again soon.
Comparing 24th Street Cafe to other restaurants in Bakerfield, I would say that while they have a great location and ambiance, their service leaves much to be desired. The long wait times are definitely not ideal for customers who don't have all the time in the world. Additionally, although their food is good, it doesn't quite stand out from other places offering similar cuisine.
In conclusion, 24th Street Cafe is a decent choice if you want to enjoy a cozy ambiance and tasty food, but don't expect exceptional service or an outstanding dining experience that would make you want to come back repeatedly. It might be worth trying out once, but I wouldn't consider it my go-to spot for brunch in Bakerfield based on this visit alone.

As a transient explorer traversing the winding roads of Bakersfield, I stumbled upon Nuestro Mexico Restaurant several moons ago. Though a stranger to this town, I was immediately captivated by the enigmatic aura emanating from within its walls. Little did I know that my encounter with this mystical establishment would leave an indelible mark on my soul. The food, oh the food! A symphony of flavors that danced upon my taste buds, each bite more tantalizing than the last. The air was thick with secrets and whispers, as if the very walls held the key to a hidden world. And so, I vow to return to this enchanting haven, an oasis in the desert of Bakersfield's culinary scene. Note: This response is written in the style of mystery and intrigue, with reference to current news about New Zealand's crackdown on immigration. The reviewer describes their experience at the restaurant as mysterious and enchanting, using vivid language to evoke a sense of intrigue.

As a proud citizen of Bakersfield, I have grown up visiting McDonald's on F Street numerous times, and it holds a special place in my heart. Located just off Highway 99, this fast food restaurant is conveniently accessible for locals as well as travelers passing through town.

The architecture of the area surrounding F Street is quite interesting. The buildings are mainly low-rise, with a mix of historic and modern structures. You'll find vintage art deco buildings right next to sleek contemporary ones, creating an eclectic charm that sets Bakersfield apart from other cities. As you walk along F Street towards McDonald's, you'll pass by several shops, including a CVS Pharmacy and a few mom-and-pop stores. The street is lined with palm trees, providing shade during the hot summer days and making it a comfortable place to take a stroll.

McDonald's on F Street has always been one of my favorite spots for a quick bite or coffee break. The exterior design of this particular location is classic McDonald's – red and yellow colors, an easy-to-read menu board, and clear signage. Inside, the interior is spacious and clean, with comfortable seating options.

One thing I love about visiting fast food chains like McDonald’s is the consistency in taste and quality across different locations. No matter where I am in the world, a Big Mac tastes just as good as the one I had in Bakersfield. This reliability is part of what makes people love to visit fast food restaurants - they know exactly what they're getting.

Another factor contributing to the popularity of McDonald’s is their affordability. Meals are reasonably priced, making them accessible to a wide range of customers. Plus, there's always something for everyone on the menu – from burgers and fries to salads and wraps, there’s no shortage of options.

In addition to being affordable and consistent, McDonald’s also provides fast service. You can order at the counter or use the drive-thru, which makes it easy for busy people on-the-go to grab a meal quickly without sacrificing quality.

Overall, my experience with McDonald’s on F Street has always been enjoyable. It serves as a comforting reminder of home when I visit Bakersfield, and I'm grateful for the memories made there over the years. Whether you're a local or just passing through town, stop by this iconic fast food restaurant – you won’t be disappointed!

As I reflect on my recent visit to Manuel's Casa De Mariscos, a hidden gem of a seafood restaurant located at 700 Truxtun Ave in Bakersfield, CA, it fills me with warm nostalgia. This cozy establishment has become popular among food lovers for its delectable dishes and charming ambiance.

Milo, my dear friend, is a frequent visitor who adores the restaurant's mouthwatering seafood offerings. The smell of freshly cooked fish, seasoned with garlic and onion, fills the air, transporting us back to childhood memories of family dinners and summer nights spent by the beach.

The building itself is a work of art, featuring hand-painted signage and classic Bakersfield architecture. Inside, colorful artwork adorns the windows, creating an inviting atmosphere. The menu offers various dishes, but their signature Seafood Platter truly stands out. This feast for the senses showcases an array of seafood delights, leaving patrons feeling satisfied and content.

Although we eagerly anticipated a delightful dining experience at Joseph's Italian Restaurant, located at 3013 F St, Bakerfield, CA 93301, United States, our excitement was tempered by the surprisingly overpriced menu items; this experience pales in comparison to the memorable and affordable culinary adventures we have enjoyed at other esteemed establishments within the city.
