There were numerous food rituals associated with Celtic celebrations, such as cooking and drinking the finest food, which became a very important means of establishing identity as one member of the community, as one family.In Scotland, food was seen as an essential part of the life of communities as well.
The Celtic food system, or Celtic diet , is an important part of this and was a major part of Celtic tradition. The Celtic food system is very much in line with the food we eat now, but it was developed in the prehistory of our species, and it is now considered by many archaeologists as a highly advanced diet, and therefore highly successful.
The Celtic diet is extremely rich in protein which is rich in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. The Celtic diet is also very well balanced in carbohydrates, proteins and fat. The Celtic diet does not require any special diet ingredients such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy to be consumed. All these foods are eaten in the diet in the same way.
The Celtic diet includes very few types of food such as meat and animal products, and therefore has a very low intake of these food. There are several other food groups that are not eaten in the diet of the Celtic people, however they are not considered to be food of any importance in our dietary system.
The Celtic foods do not require any special preparation, which means that the ingredients and preparation of the food is as simple as possible. All meals are eaten the same way from the start.The diet of the Celtic people was much more complex, as they had an extensive food culture. They ate a large number of different types of food, with meat being the most common, and eggs being the next biggest.
They also had several forms of alcoholic, medicinal and nutritionally rich foods. There are many different kinds of food, and this is a good way of looking at the Celtic diet.
Sometime ago I decided to visit one of my favorites restaurants in Edinburgh - The Witchery by the Castle. I got the news that they have new chef and his creamy spinach and potato baked eggs is outstanding. After a while waiter brings me Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley as aperitif and I waited for my order.
Young waiter, probably still learning has brought mistaken meal. I politely noticed the mistake waiter has passed out champagne glasses. While he was passing out the glasses, he accidentally passed out my own chianti and mineral water on my table next to the order. He just poured out my drink and passed them to another table with the napkin while I was waiting.
I immediately recognized the waiter and said, "Hey I forgot to say, I am not drinking wine!" I am not a wimp but I didn't care if somebody was going to drink it or not, as I was still going to eat.
However, I realized I hadn't finished my aperitif but I just had to go and taste it. Waiter came back and apologized. I was not satisfied but I don't feel that much disappointment. I did appreciate that waiter's apology for having such a misfit of aperitifs in the first place We settled for dessert, it was a lovely end.

I will be writing about the food, the restaurant, the chef and his work. I know I haven't known him that long, but I am looking forward and hoping to have a good experience for the near future.
