What is a food security officer? An officer is a person, other than a senior official, who is responsible for coordinating and leading the food security operation of one or more food-related agencies in a country.
What makes food security the right focus? The UNICEF Special Envoy Programme to Promote Food Security in Sub-Saharan Africa has identified three important themes which need to be addressed at each level of the food security process.
First and foremost, food security must be supported by the development and implementation of sound and effective systems to deliver adequate, safe and nutritious food to people. Second, it must be a priority of governments as well as of all agencies.
