Ah, Gordon Biersch. The place where dreams go to die. Or at least, where my dreams of a timely meal went to die. Let me start by saying that I'm not exactly the type of person who expects five-star service from a casual dining establishment. But let me tell you, after spending three hours in this so-called "restaurant," I'm starting to believe that Gordon Biersch is actually just a front for some sort of elaborate time-travel experiment. Now, I know what you're thinking: why on earth would you spend three hours in a restaurant? Well, dear reader, that's a great question. Allow me to paint you a picture. It all started when my boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner out. We had heard good things about Gordon Biersch, so we figured it would be the perfect place to indulge in some delicious brews and hearty German fare. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30 PM on a Tuesday evening. The place wasn't exactly packed, but there were still a few other couples scattered about. We were shown to our table promptly enough, which was a good sign. However, that's where our luck ran out. Our server, let's call her "the walking dead," seemed to be moving at the speed of snail. We waited and waited for what felt like an eternity before we finally caught her eye. She approached our table with all the enthusiasm of a child being forced to eat their vegetables. We ordered our drinks and appetizers, fully expecting them to arrive in a reasonable amount of time. But oh, how naive we were. My boyfriend's schnitzel looked like it had been beaten within an inch of its life before being fried to a crisp. And my own dish, the jägerschnitzel, was so bland that I might as well have been eating cardboard again. But enough about the food. Let's talk about the service (or lack thereof). As I mentioned earlier, our server seemed to be moving at a glacial pace. She was barely audible when she spoke, and her body language suggested that she would rather be anywhere but here. It was almost as if she were daring us to complain, knowing full well that we wouldn't want to risk being stuck in this place any longer than absolutely necessary. In fact, I have a feeling that our server might actually be the victim of some sort of time-travel experiment herself. After all, how else could you explain her bizarre behavior? Either way, I have to say that our experience at Gordon Biersch was. Unforgettable, to put it mildly. If you're looking for a restaurant with slow service, overpriced food, and an atmosphere that's more like a dungeon than a dining establishment, then this is the place for you. But if you value your time and your sanity, I would highly recommend steering clear of Gordon Biersch. Trust me, your stomach (and your soul) will thank you. I recently visited Gordon Biersch and had a completely opposite experience from Maverick Parrish's. While it's true that the restaurant can get busy at times, our wait for a table was only around 20 minutes on a Friday night. Once we were seated, our server was attentive and efficient. Our drinks arrived promptly, and our appetizers followed soon after. The portions of our entrees were generous, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Gordon Biersch serves some of the best German cuisine in San Jose. So while it's true that everyone's experience may vary, I strongly disagree with Maverick Parrish's harsh criticism. If you're ever in the area and looking for a great place to grab a bite, I highly recommend giving Gordon Biersch a try! As for the rest of the news, I too have been keeping an eye on the Chris Mason situation. It's definitely been an interesting development, but as Maverick Parrish mentioned, there are more important things to worry about than party affiliations. After all, at the end of the day, it's the people we elect that matter most, not the labels they wear. Upon entering, we were immediately struck by the overwhelming smell of grease and MSG. The decor was tacky, with plastic pandas hanging from the ceiling like some sort of bizarre menagerie. The air conditioning was non-existent, and the heat made us sweat profusely as we stood in line for what felt like an eternity. The menu offered a limited selection of dishes, most of which seemed to be variations on a theme: fried rice, chow mein, stir fry. The portions were small, and the prices exorbitant for what amounted to fast food. We ordered two entrees, a side of orange chicken, and some steamed vegetables (which turned out to be nothing more than overcooked broccoli). When our meals arrived, we were disappointed to find that they looked nothing like the pictures on the menu. Excuse me, sir," one of them said, his voice muffled behind the mask. We require your steak for scientific research. My father, a staunch meat-eater, protested loudly. But it was too late. The researchers had already begun their experiment, injecting our steaks with an unknown substance and monitoring their reactions.
