As for the food, let's just say it didn't live up to the hype that surrounded Mandarin Restaurant and Lounge either. Our appetizers arrived after an excruciatingly long wait (almost half an hour!), and when we finally took our first bites, we were met with a series of disasters: watery mozzarella sticks, cold shrimp cocktail, and a burger that looked like it had been made by someone who hadn't even bothered to flip the patties!
The main courses didn't fare much better. My partner ordered the teriyaki chicken, which arrived lukewarm and coated in a thick, sticky sauce that felt more like an insult than a complement. I opted for their signature dish, the Mandarin seafood pasta—a misstep even in death as it seemed to have been inspired by the deep-fried menu item at our local fast food joint!

The tables were sticky, there were bits of food scattered all over the floor and the general atmosphere wasn't inviting at all. Given that we had high expectations after hearing about the place, this disappointment hit us hard.
Despite the unsavory conditions, we decided to give it a shot since we were really hungry. But to our dismay, the food didn’t meet our expectations either. The portions were small and the sauce tasted like it had been sitting out for days. We couldn't help but compare this experience to other Italian restaurants in Fairfield that consistently offer great food with excellent customer service.
Unfortunately, Evelyn's Big Italian left us wanting more. Not only was their establishment unclean, but the quality of their food just didn’t measure up to what we had hoped for. The journey from Nut Tree Park & Plaza to Chevy's is relatively short; it takes about 10 minutes by car. Starting at the entrance of Nut Tree Park, you head east on Texas Street towards Peabody Road. Turn right onto Peabody Road, then left onto West Texas Street. Continue straight through a roundabout and take a slight right onto North Texas Street. After passing under Interstate 80, turn right onto Travis Boulevard where Chevy's will be on your left-hand side.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my experience at Chevy's. Not only did they deliver on delicious Mexican food, but the atmosphere and service made for a memorable evening out with friends. If you find yourself in Fairfield craving some good eats, I highly recommend giving Chevy's a try!
